Classical brass: Live performance of Ewald, Albinoni, Lutoslawski and more

Recorded live at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Brass Over Bridges performs music that has become canonic in the classical brass quintet literature. This video is a compilation of our 2019 fall recital, which we developed that summer while at the Aspen Music Festival American Brass Quintet Seminar.

Works performed include:
Mini-Overture, by Witold Lutoslawski
Concerto St. Mark by Tomaso Albinoni (arr. Hickman) (mvts. I, II, IV)
Quintet No. 3 by Victor Ewald (mvts. I, II, IV)
Four Pieces by Paquito D'Rivera (Wapango & Danzon)
Four Sketches by Anthony Plog

We truly valued our experience working as fellows with the American Brass Quintet. The ABQ is a pillar of the classical brass world and served as great mentors to while we were at the Aspen Music Festival. We received great advice on how to rehearse more efficiently and invaluable ideas about developing our performing ensemble as a business. We’d recommend the seminar to any brass quintet looking to develop their sound and their business as an ensemble!
